Psychotheatrics # 1 - The Coil

Psychotheatrics is an exploration of a particular altered state achieved in self-induced mesmerism and the most subterranean dreams where static and chroma shift like teeming eels, nacreous and black sheathed by mucosal rainbows, a pool of biotic oil gathering in the cistern of the mind.

"Psychotheatrics #1: The coil" is a short, recursive, interactive experience hosted on a computer for the September 2024 exhibition “Beyond this Place” at the QCAD White Box Gallery. The work harnesses its interactive medium to reproduce the ambiguous emotional texture of dreams.

The environment, panoplied with overwrought paneling and iron latticework, spirals infinitely down into an imagined chthonic void. The user avatar can indefinitely amble up or down this coil, and never find an end. This work exists in continuity with art and media that explores endlessness, impossible space, artificial spaces of Piranesian dimension.
